Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Any help with this same Office update causing different problems, which I posted here? Plus, I get a ‘Pop-up’ when on ‘Microsoft Fix-it’ saying “.. Input string was not in a correct format I tried everything to make it work, but still get these pop-ups, looks like I don’t have whatever the update wants me to have. I assume that I’ll never be able to get anymore Microsoft updates. I don’t know if your problem is exactly the same as mine, but it sounds very similar.

Maybe this will work for you:. Thanks for the info I’ll try to restore an earlier date or uninstall Office The same thing was happening to me. Several years ago a Microsoft service representative suggested that I do this whenever an update fails to download and install properly.

I go to the Microsoft site and download save the appropriate labeled update, in this case, KB I then open it, download it and install it as a “free-standing” update, which is what the service rep called it. It always seems to work without incident as it did in this instance. The installed update will show up in the listing of all installed updates, but it will frequently continue to come up as an “important update” that needs to be installed in the dialog box in the upper left hand corner of the page.

They contain various fixes to applications. That being said, typically if you take the default install of Office it installs the 32 bit version even when your OS is 64 bit.

You would have to use Windows Explorer to drill down to the folder to run the 64 bit install. You should be able to tell which version you have by clicking on File then Help while in Word, Excel, etc.

There is a serious issue with Service Pack 2 for Office that you must consider before installing. If you use multiple versions of Office, such as Office Home and Business and Office Access , installation of the service pack will break previous versions of Office including Access Runtime. Microsoft has no fix for this currently. If you have only Office products installed you should be fine. Thanks for your feedback. Additionally, it fixes general reliability issues that occur when you post a blog entry on Microsoft SharePoint Server and Microsoft Office blogs.
